Angama Mara is roughly translated as ‘suspended in mid-air’ which perfectly describes the camp itself. The suites appear to be floating above the Mara Triangle and have uninterrupted panoramas of the Mara plains and beyond.
Located where the romantic ‘Ngong Hills’ scenes were filmed in Out of Africa, the inspiration from this camp has been drawn from this classic safari era, but with fresh, contemporary design.
Your days here are filled with game drives, nature walks, Out of Africa picnics and a breath-taking experience would be to embark upon a hot air balloon safari at sunrise over the Mara itself.
Two entirely separate luxury tented camps with a real focus on getting back to nature.
Situated in the Maasai Mara, just a short drive from the Angama Private Airstrip.
Accommodation & Facilities
Each of the tented suites appear to be floating as they are situated 300m above the Mara, to ensure you have stunning 180 degrees views across the plains. Everything has been placed strategically in order for you to have unobstructed views from the 11 metre, floor to ceiling glass windows. The suites have been decorated to a truly high standard with a blend of both African and European influences in regards to the furniture as well as the interior design.
During your stay at Angama Mara all of your meals are included and you have the choice as to where you wish to enjoy them. You have the option of dining on your private deck, out in the bush with their Out of Africa picnics or communally in the evening times (the perfect opportunity to share your experiences of the day). Angama Mara strives to use the freshest ingredients from the warm breads in the morning to the delicious bush bbq in the evening.
At Angama Mara there is a huge focus upon spotting wildlife and experiencing your stunning surroundings. However, the camp offers a ‘no-set-schedule rule’ to ensure that you can spend your time here exactly how you wish; whether that involves as much exploring as possible either in game drives or nature walks accompanied by your knowledgeable guide or spending ample time within the serenity of the camp or your private suite ensuring a truly relaxing stay. Visits to Maasai homesteads, traditional craft making with the Maasai ladies and hot air ballooning are also available.
Children of all ages are welcome at Angama Mara.
